Welcome to the web site of “Old Arkwright."

On this site you will find some stories of my first five years working on a preserved railway, and also a link to the “Blog” that I now keep most running days.

Hopefully you will find something of interest here and it may encourage you to perhaps visit the railway and spend some money, and who knows, you may even become a working member.

You may even recognise yourself in one of the blog entries, if you do then you can relax in the knowledge that your visit to the station will have left it’s mark.
However, please note that some marks run much deeper than others.

So if you have any comments on the stories, the blog or site itself then please don’t hesitate to drop me an email by clicking HERE. Or even better pop and see me most running weekends at Orton Mere Station on the Nene Valley Railway.
